Satyagraha - A multi-starrer movie with a bad plot

Satyagraha is a Bollywood flick directed by Prakash Jha, starring Amitabh Bachchan, Ajay Devgn, Kareena Kapoor, Amrita Rao, Arjun Rampal and Manoj Bajpai. The movie revolves around two friends – Ajay Devgn and Indraneil Sengupta, who are very different from each other in terms of personalities. Indraneil is like his father who believes in working for the country and bringing in change in the political system of the nation where as Ajay Devgn is business minded and believes in making quick money. Amitabh Bachchan plays the role of Indraneil father and is a teacher who is very depressed with the indian political system & wants to do something for everyone in his gaon (village). Amrita Rao is Amitabh Bachchan’s daughter-in-law and Ajay Devgans sister-in-law. Arjun Rampal is just there for appearance, just like Amrita Rao and doesn’t have any major role to play. Kareena is a journalist who falls in love with Ajay Devgn eventually. The funny part is, in between all the hush h

Why Did Ghanchakkar movie not fare well at the Box office?

Ghanchakkar is Bollywood-suspense-comedy movie starring Emraan Hashmi and Vidya Balan. It is directed by Rajkumar Gupta and produced by Ronnie Screwvala. Ghanchakkar is a movie about a married man (Emraan Hashmi) living a mediocre life and is harrowed by his mom and wife and plans to join hands with two thieves to rob a bank. The movie begins with Vidya Balan and Emraan Hashmi having dinner, when his mom calls and asks him if has had dinner and if Vidya Balan (his wife) ever cooks for him. In the entire movie, the mother keeps on calling her son to know about his whereabouts and learn about his life. As the movie proceeds, two new characters are introduced – Pandit & Idris played by Rajesh Sharma and Namit Das respectively. Rajesh Sharma has worked with Vidya Balan before in the movie The Dirty Pitcure (remember the guy who gives Silk her first break in the movie) and Namit Das has played the role of Ranbir Kapoors friend in the movie (Wake Up Sid). Both Rajesh Sharma and Nam

Dhanush – From Kolaveri Di to Raanjhanaa

Raanjhnaa is a sweet love story between a boy and a girl that begins during their childhood and ends when they are 20-something, with the actor’s death. Both the actors Dhanush and Abhay Deol die in the movie sacrificing their lives for a girl named Zoya- played by Sonam. Dhanush clearly steals the show by his amazing acting skills and simplicity. Dhanush cannot be judged on looks at all. However his expressions and dialogue delivery is too good. His Friend Murari – played by Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub was given very good dialogues, which he has proved that he was worth delivering. Bindiya – played by Swara Bhaskar is a girl who is as crazily in love with Dhanush as he is with Zoya. Swara Bhaskar has again proved her acting skills in this movie after Tanu Weds Manu. She has chosen strong supporting roles in both the movies and has performed well. Her dialogue delivery is very crisp and clear.  Abhay Deol has a very brief role in the movie which fades away with his death, although he has

Fukrey (2013)

I don’t understand why would Farhan Akhtar produce such a movie? I would rate the movie 3/ 10. It made no sense. The movie stars Pulkit Sharma, Manjot Singh, Varun Sharma, Ali Faizal, Richa Chadda, Vishakha Singh and Priya Anand. The movie begins with Pulkit Sharma and Varun Sharma talking some non-sense about college girls and their dream of entering college as they have been failures throughout their lives; right from failing in 1 st Std. Next scene is about Manjot Singh praying and wanting the same thing, entering college just because his so-called girlfriend studies in that college, who apparently is cheating on him. The third guy, Ali Faizal is some wandered who keeps on wandering around the college campus like some nomad. By the way nobody is allowed within the college campus but this guy Ali Faizal is allowed, nobody knows why and how. Then there is Bholi Punjaban, Richa Chadda, who is a an amazingly audacious chiq wanting to kill the world for money. Pulkit is a super s

THE DIRTY PICTURE

Oo La la Oo la la, Yes i simply love that song and i simply loved the movie too. The story of the movie is very typical, rags to riches and then fall down. However, what i loved about the movie, is the acting, Vidya Balan is absolutely fabulous, with her strong bindaas character & “I care a damn” attitude. The movie revolves around the story of a B-grade movie actress who believes that the entertainment industry loves skin shows, skimpy clothes, horny expressions & fleshy body& people want and like to see all of this on screen. She believes that she has the power rule the glamour world just by her looks & expressions, which she indeed does. She reaches the peak of success but is unable to manage it. She experiences love, lust, betrayal, jealousy, confidence, faith, regret & guilt and finally gives up on her life. She lives her life her way, by her rules & dies her way too... The dialogues of the movie are filthy but very well delivered; also bappi da has do

ROCKSTAR

This Ranbir Kapoor starrer movie has received mixed reviews from across the globe. Some people have loved it and others have simply disliked it. In my opinion, it’s a very well made movie, well directed and well acted. I am not much a Nargis Fakhri fan, however, her acting could be rated as 4/10, which is quite average. Ranbir on the other hand has been as usual - awesome at acting. Lot of experiments have been carried out with his appearance and he looks stunning in every mode. His styling is a mix of ruggedness and panache & he has carried himself very well throughout the movie. Imtiaz Ali has proved it yet again that he is definitely a good movie maker. A.R Rahman is the composer, which leaves us no doubt about how beautiful the music would be of the movie. Every song, every word and every beat of this movie is lovely. One of my friends very rightly described “Rockstar” as a movie that depicts “love as a disease”, very well said by my dear friend Poojan Shah. Besides the who

Desi Boyz

I usually catch upon some nice movies on weekends, today I saw desi boyz. I would rate the movie a 4/10. I liked the first half of the movie. The akshay-john pair worked more than akshay-chitrangada or john-deepika pairs.  Chitrangada Singh was not needed in the movie at all. Her role was squeezed into the movie, for no apparent reasons, she is introduced in the second half of the movie. Also, there are songs at unnecessary situations. John and Akshay have acted well as compared to Deepika & Chitrangada. The story is not that strong. It’s a typical Bollywood movie with no substance at all. If You have loads of time and want to kill it, go watch this movie, you’ll definitely waste 2.5 hours of your life out of which you may enjoy the first 45 min and the next few hours you would curse yourself to be seating in the theatre hall and watching the movie.  Anyways for guys, you can definitely watch this movie if you want to see sensual Chitrangada coz
